Retired AMO Executive Director, Mission Support, Douglas “Doug” James Koupash passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2024, at the age of 71 in Centreville, Virginia.
Doug was a retired US Navy Reserve Captain who enjoyed success working as a logistician for NASA, where he was a proud contributor to the International Space Station Program. He later joined the Senior Executive Service in the US Dept. of Homeland Security, Air and Marine Operations (AMO) from where he retired in 2018. While at AMO he was an especially staunch advocate for the cutting edge MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program. As a result of his tireless advocacy to provide the necessary funding and programmatic support, Air & Marine Operations (AMO) is considered the world leader in MQ-9 technical maturity and development.
Doug’s relentless support for the UAS and all AMO aircraft and vessel programs were a testament to his commitment to public service and continue to have a lasting impact to this day.
